Socialists Win Parliamentary Majority in France

In France, the party of newly elected President François Hollande has won a parliamentary majority in a second round of legislative elections. Hollande’s Socialists emerged with a decisive advantage after running on a platform critical of European-wide austerity measures. They will now control both houses of parliament for the first time in France’s history.
