Hi there,

The job of a journalist is to go to where the silence is — especially when those in power seek to silence voices that question or challenge power. That is what we do at Democracy Now! day in and day out, and we're able to do it because of financial support from people like you — people who trust and depend on our independent reporting. If you believe that freedom of speech and freedom of the press are essential to the functioning of a democratic society, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Supreme Court to Consider President Obama’s Actions on Immigration

HeadlineJan 20, 2016

The Supreme Court has announced it will take up President Obama’s executive actions on immigration. In 2014, Obama unveiled a program to shield from deportation up to 5 million undocumented people who are parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents. But a coalition of 26 states filed suit, and last February a judge in Texas halted the program. The Supreme Court’s upcoming decision could impact the balance of power between Congress and the president—and the lives of millions of undocumented people. A decision is expected by the end of June.
