Extended Jobless Benefits Expiring as Lawmakers Fail to Break Stalemate on Coronavirus Relief

The White House said Wednesday that talks with Democratic leaders over a new coronavirus stimulus bill have stalled. Republicans have proposed slashing expanded unemployment benefits to just $200 a week. For the past four months, tens of millions of unemployed workers received an additional $600-a-week federal benefit, but the program just ended.
