The meeting came on the same day that a court in the UAE sentenced the civil rights attorney Asim Ghafoor to three years in prison. Ghafoor is a U.S. citizen who worked as a lawyer for Jamal Khashoggi. He was arrested on Thursday during a stopover in Dubai. He has been accused of tax evasion and money laundering.
