Iran Acknowledges Enriching Uranium to Near Weapons-Grade Purity

Iran has acknowledged it has enriched uranium to 84% purity for the first time — just below the weapons-grade level of 90%. But an Iranian nuclear official dismissed the idea it was part of a weapons program, saying it was a temporary side effect of producing 60% purity uranium, and calling such accusations a “conspiracy” against Tehran. Israel’s far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already threatened possible military action against Iran.
