Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have signed a joint defense agreement stating that “any armed attack against any one of the three states shall be regarded as an attack against them all.” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Mecca to sign the agreement with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The deal comes at a time when Iran is threatening more attacks on energy infrastructure in the region if Gulf leaders don’t use their leverage to press President Trump to end the war on Iran.
