In Michigan, the Lansing State Journal has revealed Michigan State University paid a public relations firm more than a half-million dollars to monitor the social media accounts of the female athletes coming forward to accuse the MSU and USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse. The revelations that the firm billed MSU more than $500,000 for the month of January alone came only days after the former dean of Michigan State University’s osteopathic medical school was charged with criminal sexual conduct, including harassing and physically assaulting his students. William Strampel was also the longtime supervisor of Dr. Larry Nassar, who has been convicted of sexually abusing hundreds of women and girls.
