2026 Oscar-Nominated Films on Democracy Now!

The 2026 Oscar Nominations were released today. Nominees include several films Democracy Now! has covered. Watch our interviews below.

Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners was nominated a record-breaking 16 times, including for best director and best picture.

Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho’s film The Secret Agent has been nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

Geeta Gandbhir has made history as the first woman to receive Academy Award nominations in two documentary categories in the same year — “The Perfect Neighbor” for Best Documentary Feature and “The Devil Is Busy” for Best Documentary Short.

The documentary Mr Nobody Against Putin tells the story of Pavel “Pasha” Talankin, a primary school teacher and videographer who becomes an international whistleblower.

Another Oscar nominee includes The Voice of Hind Rajab.

The Alabama Solution was nominated for best documentary feature.

It Was Just an Accident was nominated for best international feature film.

Armed Only with a Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud was nominated for best short documentary.
