“Fossil Fools Day” Protests Target Coal-Linked Banks

HeadlineApr 02, 2008

Here in New York, two people were arrested Tuesday at an anti-coal protest at the Manhattan headquarters of Citibank. Dressed in tuxedos and top hats, protesters calling themselves “Billionaires for Dirty Energy” criticized Citibank’s major financial stake in the coal industry. The protest came as part of the Fossil Fools day of action targeting coal plants, coal mines and coal-funding banks worldwide. Other demonstrations were held in North Carolina, Boston, Kentucky, and internationally in Britain and New Zealand.
