Hi there,

Democracy Now is committed to bringing you the stories and perspectives you won't hear anywhere else, from the peace activists demanding an end to war to Indigenous leaders fighting to stop fossil fuel extraction and save the planet. Our independent reporting is only possible because we’re funded by you—not by the weapons manufacturers when we cover war or gun violence, not by the oil, gas, coal, or nuclear companies when we cover the climate crisis. Can you donate $10 today to keep us going strong? Every dollar makes a difference. Right now a generous donor will DOUBLE your donation, making it twice as valuable to Democracy Now! Please do your part today, and thank you so much.

Brazilian Prosecutors File Criminal Complaint Against Glenn Greenwald

HeadlineJan 22, 2020

In Brazil, federal prosecutors have filed a criminal complaint against journalist and Intercept co-founder Glenn Greenwald, after The Intercept published the “Secret Brazil Archive.” The series offers new and damning insight into the sweeping anti-corruption campaign that brought down former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and paved the way for the election of right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro. The move to file a criminal complaint against Greenwald has sparked international outrage, and many are condemning the move as an attack on the free press in Brazil. We’ll go to Brazil for more on this story later in the broadcast.
