Democrats Promise “Rooseveltian” Coronavirus Relief Bill

HeadlineMay 08, 2020

On Capitol Hill, Democratic leaders are preparing to unveil a massive new coronavirus relief package, which Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer promised will be “Rooseveltian” in scope — a reference to the New Deal legislation of the Great Depression. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday the bill will likely include $800 billion in funding for state and local governments, money for COVID-19 tests, food stamp funding, money for unemployed workers, and other direct payments to needy families.
