Tributes have poured in from around the world. Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wrote on Twitter, “May his passion for social justice be remembered and inspire people around the world.” Michael Brooks traveled to Brazil earlier this year to interview Lula shortly after he was released from prison.
