Hi there,

It is the job of the press to cover power, not cover for power—to hold those in power accountable by documenting what's happening on the ground and amplifying voices at the grassroots. In this critical moment, as attacks on the media escalate, we must continue to cover crackdowns on dissent, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, public health and academic freedom. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Bizarre Herman Cain Presidential Ad Goes Viral

HeadlineOct 26, 2011

The latest campaign ad for GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain has gone viral, in part because the ad ends with an odd clip of his chief of staff, Mark Block, taking a drag on a cigarette and then blowing smoke into the camera. Up until January, Block served as the Wisconsin director of Americans for Prosperity, a Koch brothers-funded organization. The ad has surprised some since Herman Cain is a cancer survivor. In 2006, he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, which had spread to his liver.

Mark Block, Herman Cain Chief of Staff: “We’ve run a campaign like nobody’s ever seen. But then, America’s never seen a candidate like Herman Cain. We need you to get involved, because, together, we can do this. We can take this country back.”
